Our rental bikes are quality Trek bikes with mid-drive and rear-hub motors. Our bikes are regularly serviced so you can enjoy your ride without worry. We do have some regular acoustic bikes as well.
Some of our bikes are more powerful than others. NONE OF THEM are scooters - you must be willing to ride a bike - but the hills wont be nearly as hard.
FAQ’s
What are your rates? E-bikes start at $69 for 4 Hours (we have a 4 hour minimum), $85 for a full day. Regular bikes are $45 / day. Discounts are applied to longer rental periods, please fill out the adjacent form. Please fill out the form on this page to get an idea of rates. Rates varying depending on the bikes and time rented.
Can I rent bikes on Sundays and Mondays? YES - by RESERVATION! Just book through our system and a staff will meet you at the time you have chosen. (Please note - we will be there at your chosen start time to meet you, but are otherwise closed).
What is cycling like on Salt Spring: very hilly and considered challenging by most (nothing our e-bikes can’t handle). Those who are renting regular bikes must be ready for a fairly serious workout). In addition, some routes are considered unsafe to ride for inexperienced riders, such as the Fulford Ganges. We HIGHLY recommend the Northern Loop for anyone who is moderately apprehensive as it gets quieter quickly via Upper Ganges Rd and mellows right out on Walker’s Hook.
Are there bike lanes on Salt Spring? Not really - there are some closer to town and some pathways. Otherwise you are riding on narrow rural country roads. 95% of our customers LOVE the experience, some find the roads a bit daunting.
Do you rent kids bikes or trailers? No, sorry. Salt Spring is a little unsafe for the kiddies.
Do you bikes comes with a helmet? YES - our bikes come with a helmet, saddle bag, lock, phone mount and reflective vest if you want one. Helmets are legally required in BC - we can not rent you a bike without a helmet.
Can we take bikes up Mount Maxwell? Unfortunately not, as the road up is steep, rough, muddy after rain, and hard on the bikes. If you wish to hike, please see the Mt. Erskine Map on this page for a fab hike destination.
Do you deliver? Unfortunately not this year due to staffing issues.
Can we store bags at the shop while we ride? YES! We are happy to offer bag storage to our customers.
How close are you to the ferries? Not close. You’ll need to bus or have a ride to town.
What is your CANCELATION POLICY - Cancel anytime, no charge, up to the day before your booking. Same day cancellations or no shows are $50 charge / bike. Late (after hours) returns are $20 / hr / bike.
What is your minimum age? 16. However, we will rent to experienced riders, who are comfortable around cars, as young as 13 with parental guidance.
Can you recommend a route:
* NOTE: We generally recommend our customers avoid the Fulford - Ganges road as much as possible. Side roads on Salt Spring are much quieter. The Fulford-Ganges is a little like a rural highway with little room for cyclists.
North End to Fernwood Dock - Highly recommend this route. Its generally quieter than all cycling on Salt Spring and there is LOTS to see and do.
Leave town on Upper Ganges Rd, Visit the Woodshed, follow Upper Ganges to Central, right on North End Rd, past the lake, right on Fernwood. From the Dock its a choose your own adventure. Some of our favourites: Fernwood dock, Hen and Hound farm stand, North End Farm, Southy Point (In the most Northern tip… go figure), Fraser’s Thimble Farms Nursery (lovely spot),Sunset Beach, Vesuvius Beach, St Mary Lake, the Cidery, and Kutatas Vineyard.South End Route to Ruckle - Up Ganges Hill to Beddis Rd, follow until Cusheon Lake Rd, hang a Right, then a left on Stewart. That will take you to the wonders of the South Island. Some of our Favourite spots: The SS Cheese Factory (must see), Ruckle Park Trails, Barb’s farm stand on Beaver Point Rd, Weston Lake (nudist alert!), Beddis Beach and more.
We recommend doubling back the same route and not riding to town via Fulford-Ganges.Mt Erskine - Amazing hike with an incredible view. The adjacent map will get you to a great starting point. About 5-8 mins into the walk you will come to a fork in the trail (left, straight, or right) - go STRAIGHT, 5 mins later, stay right (for AMAZING bluff views - tho a slightly more challenging route). For those seeking a more level walk, check out Ruckle Park.)
Already booked bikes will NOT appear in your order form below, and available start times will be affected by reservations already in place.
